The Competition is open to pianists of all nationalities born after January 1st 1979.

The attached application form, stating the programme to be performed, should be completed in German or English and sent to the Chopin-Gesellschaft, Kasinostrasse 3, D-64293 Darmstadt by June 1st, 2009. The application form must be accompanied by the following documents:

Curriculum vitae with musical career, prizes and awards

Documents certifying musical studies (photo-copies), references

Two recent portrait photographs endorsed with candidate’s name on the back
Proof of payment of the entrance fee of € 80, showing candidate’s name and purpose of the payment, paid onto the following account of the Chopin-Gesellschaft:

Incomplete documents cannot be accepted.

Candidates who decide to withdraw from the Competition should inform the Chopin Society of their withdrawal before the start of the Competition. The entrance fee will not be refunded, unless the candidate is not accepted. As the number of participants is limited, a committee decides on admissions. The candidate will be informed of acceptance by June 15th, 2009 (postmark).
The competitors relinquish to the Chopin Society their rights on all performances of works performed during the Competition and the prizewinners’ concert, for recording by whatever method or transmission by radio and TV.

The jury will consist of prominent German and foreign musicians, invited by the Chopin Society. The quality of interpretation will be evaluated on the basis of the jury’s rules, according to a system of classification by points. The decisions of the jury are final and not contestable.

The Chopin-Gesellschaft will provide practice facilities for all candidates.
