MARTIN KASIK (www.martinkasik.com)

Geboren 1976 in Mähren, widmet er sich seit seinem 4. Lebensjahr dem Klavierspiel. Er studierte in Ostrava bei Monika Tugenliebová und in Prag bei Ivan Klánsky. Vervollkommnet hat er sich in Meisterkursen von Lazar Berman, Eugen Indjic, Christian Zacharias, Paul Badura-Skoda u. a.

Bei bedeutenden nationalen und internationalen Klavierwettbewerben erhielt er 1. Preise und Auszeichnungen, u.a. 1998 beim dem Internationalen Klavierwettbewerb „Prager Frühling“, 1999 bei dem Young Concert Artists Competition, New York, 2000 den Prix Davidoff und 2002 den Harmonie Magazine Award.

Insbesondere der 1. Preis in New York katapultierte den damals 23-jährigen Kasík direkt in eine internationale Konzertkarriere. Inzwischen gastiert er mit berühmten Orchestern in den großen Konzertsälen der Welt. Er unternahm mehrere sehr erfolgreiche Konzerttourneen durch die USA, Kanada und Japan und debütierte er mit dem Chicago Symphony Orchestra unter Pinchas Zukerman. Hinzu kommen zahlreiche Konzerte in Deutschland - u. a. bei den Schwetzinger Festspielen - und in ganz Europa, darunter zwei größere Tourneen nach Spanien.

Mit einem überaus bemerkenswerten Repertoire tritt Martin Kasik außerdem vielfach in Solo-Klavierabenden und in verschiedenen Kammermusik-Ensembles auf, wobei er sich u. a. als Chopin-Interpret einen hervorragenden Namen gemacht hat. Zu zahlreichen Rundfunkaufnahmen und Fernsehauftritten kommt eine stattliche Anzahl von teilweise preisgekrönten CD-Einspielungen.

Seit 2008 ist Martin Kasik Präsident des Chopin-Festivals in Mariánske Lázne (Marienbad) und seit 2009 Dozent für Klavier am Prager Konservatorium. Er unterrichtet ebenfalls an der Musikakademie in Prag.


Martin Kasík (b. 1976) ranks among the foremost Czech pianists of the present time. He has devoted himself to piano playing since four years of age. He studied with Monika Tugendliebová at the Janáček conservatory in Ostrava, and subsequently with Ivan Klánský at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Prague.

The winner of several domestic and international contests, and the recipient of a number of prestigious awards, he has to his credit laureateships from the 1998 Prague Spring International Music Competition, the 1999 Young Concert Artists Competition, the 2000 Davidoff Prix, the 2002 Harmonie Magazine Award, and other distinctions.

He has appeared in many major concert venues, such as the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Tonhalle in Zurich, Gewandhaus Leipzig, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Rotterdam´s De Doelen, Finlandia Hall in Helsinki, the Auditorio de Barcelona, Carnegie Hall´s Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Avery Fisher Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Tokyo´s Suntory Hall, Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore, and others.As a soloist, he has appeared with, among other orchestras, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, or Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. He has worked regularly with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and the Prague Symphony Orchestra, which he accompanied on their tours of the United States and Japan.

In 2008, Martin Kasík was appointed President of the Chopin Festival in Mariánské Lázně. Since 2009, he has taught piano at the Prague Conservatory and presently he also teaches at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.

His discography comprises 12 CDs for Supraphon and ArcoDiva labels.
